Just made some French onion soup for our dinner.
Note to myself: Be careful when slicing onions on a mandolin but on the plus side onions rinse off quite nicely! ;)

Ok, first of all, that made me pee myself with laughter. Too, too funny because sadly, it's too, too true. Hee - NBC = Titantic. A sinking ship. Thankfully, Southland is safely in a life boat with TNT. Yays!
Second - didn't mean to pull a disappearing act. But I did. Sorry. I haven't been feeling well lately. And by not feeling well, I mean I've seen way too many doctors lately for even me to want to deal with. But such is life as they say. Don't know anything to stress out about. Not life threatening. More like life altering - again.
I'm not looking to throw myself a "Pity the Poor Smc" party, I bring up this fact because,
Third - finlee is the most awesomest of amazingly amazing friends.
As I'm sure most of my flisters know - finlee and I are close. Sure, she may have left me and moved 1600 miles away, but she knows she can't get rid of me that easily. And she, I think, is probably one of the onlys who know about my shit season to date.
So where am I going with this you ask? (or not!)
Well, I'll tell you - in today's mail was a box. From finlee -- containing a star box with FRUIT PASTILLES!, better known to me as the Candy of the Gods, also The Super Dooper Reindeer Pooper and a wind up penguin and a GIANT Gummy Teddy bear.
I love finlee so much. Everyone should go out and get themselves a finlee. Just not this one, because this finlee is all MINE MINE MINE MINE!!!!!

So once this lovely, lovely holiday season is over (and my mother is back in Texas) I do solumnly swear to get back to reading the 100 word challenges, commenting on same and hopefully writing some of my own.

I normally take my birthday off but I couldn't yesterday because I had a meeting I couldn't get out of. I'm so pleased I was there. I felt positively spoilt!
When I got in my desk was decorated with black balloons. My boss bought me a hot-water bottle with a skull and crossbones cover. And my colleagues clubbed together to buy me the following. (I'm not sure what this says about me or about the relationship I hold with the IT guys at work!)
A packet of Penis shaped dried pasta.
Penis shaped lollipops.
A book on 101 sexual misadventures. One case that had us wincing and laughing in equal measure was the tale of a guy who decided to shove a frozen sea bass up his ass for kicks but then couldn't get it out again because as it defrosted the dorsel fin opened and speared him from within. Ouch!
A bottle of Jack Daniels.
and a Lenore The Little Dead girl doll.
Hee
Love it.
Mr C bought me a lovely shiny new i-pod because my very, very old one died on me. Squeeeeeee.

I really cannot believe it's so close to Christmas.
I really should get off my arse and go do some shopping!
But at least I have a deepfreeze full of mince pies and my Christmas puddings are all made. Saint Delia told me to use 8 tablespoons of booze to soak into the fruit...I managed to cram in almost a pint of apple brandy! Hee
Almost done with the next chapter of my NCIS fic but it kind of grew and I must catch up on the OC 100 word Advent prompt thingy. (Sorry Melly!)

Pretty much the entire city is shut down today. Even the UW cancelled classes (first time since 1990) and told non-essential employees to stay home (the first time since 1978!).
View out from my front walk:
Soup is already cooking in my crock-pot (split pea). Later I may do some baking. The fireplace is on. Should be a nice and cozy day. |

So far we have gotten about an inch or two of the "light snow" portion of the upcoming storm. Most of the rest of the 9 -12 inches is supposed to be coming this evening through tomorrow. When it does stop snowing, by Thursday the high temp. is going to be around 9°F. Sounds like good knitting, reading, cooking and baking weather to me. And I am very glad that I decided to put the down comforter on the bed when I did the laundry on Sunday. : )
I did have to babysit this morning as my niece was not feeling well. So we spent the morning snuggling on the couch watching cartoons until my brother came home at noon to take over the snuggling with plans for a nap for both of them. Now I will probably get whatever she has in a few days. I may need to stock up on some hot & sour soup.... |
